The Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce

Since 1917, the Chamber of Commerce has provided encouragement and promotion of trade, commerce and civic betterment throughout the Blue Water area. Our mission is to promote Blue Water area businesses by providing advocacy for our membership regarding federal, state and local issues that affect business and our quality of life, education to help businesses grow, and assistance through guidance and peer mentorship from our volunteer member-based Business Entreprenuerial Assistance Team (BEAT).

Today, our Chamber is comprised of over 400 area businesses, dozens of volunteers serving on various Chamber committees, a 21-member Board of Directors representing a variety of industries in the Blue Water Area, and two full-time staff. We are united with a common vision to work in partnership to strengthen and enhance our business community and quality of life.

Giving Back to the Community

The Chamber's 501c3 foundation, the Community Benefit Fund, was established in 1984, to support academic achievement award programs for the Port Huron Area School District.  High school students who earn a 3.5 or higher grade point average receive an academic pin or letter during the fall assembly and graduating seniors are recognized in the spring with an awards program and reception in the evening.  Over 10,000 awards have been distributed through the Fund since its inception, and with the continued support of our business membership and general public, we hope to expand the program to Marysville High School and Landmark Academy in the near future. Our Community

Sixty miles north of Detroit, Port Huron is the seat of St. Clair County. St. Clair County is known as the Blue Water Area because its eastern and southern boundaries are formed by the waters of Lake Huron, the St. Clair River, and Lake St. Clair. The St. Clair River forms the natural boundary between the United States and Canada. The river flows along the southern part of the city until it reaches the twin Blue Water Bridges under which is the mouth of Lake Huron.

The bridges link Port Huron to Sarnia, Ontario making this beautiful community unique. These magnificent side-by-side spans offer unlimited opportunities for international trade, commerce and recreation. The view is pretty incredible, too! The huge freighters from all over the world that make their way through the river and under the bridges are a breath-taking sight. More freighter payload passes under the Blue Water Bridges than flows through the Suez and Panama Canals combined. From personal watercraft to 1,100-ft freighters, the water makes Port Huron a very special place, indeed.

Experience Great Lakes cruising on Lake Huron to the St. Clair River, Lake St. Clair and Detroit River on this 1,000' freighter!
